The Situation
Displacement can happen to anyone at anytime. It can happen after a natural disaster because the victims have no where else to go or when they are taking refuge from war. But then there is also forced displacement by the government. we are not talking about displacement that was done correctly but incorrectly done displacement. THere are people who have been wrongly displaced and to countries they have never been. They are left alone and helpless in the environment they are sent to. According to UNHCR the number of forcibly displaced people both within countries as a result of persecution, conflict, or generalized violence has increased by over 50 percent in the last 10 years. In 2007 about 42.7 million people were forcibly displaced; by the end of 2017 this number had increased to 68.5 million. Now 1 out of 110 people in the world are displaced, that is about 68 million people.
Of the 68.5 million that were displaced about 58 percent were internally displaced. The other 42 percent are made up of 25.4 million refugees and 3.1 million asylum-seekers. These do not only consist of refugees and asylum-seeker, but also people who were displaced within the borders of their own countries. The sudden increase of forced displacement that happened between 2007 and 2017 was concentrated between 2013 and 2017 was mainly caused by the Syrian conflict and other conflicts in the region.
Displacement of people can be direct or indirect. Direct diplacement is when a body is actually moved from their place of leaving. Indirect displacement is when their livelihood is targeted so they have no choice but to move.
Most lose connection with family once being displaced. They end up homeless and alone. There needs to be something done to prevent this from happening and to also helpm when this does happen because everything cant be prevented.
